Overview

German (Deutsch) is a member of the western group of Germanic languages and is one of the world's major languages. It is the language with the most native speakers in the European Union.

Spoken by more than 120 million people in 38 countries of the world, German is—like English—a pluricentric language with three main centers of usage: Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
